Where Have They All Gone....
Where have all my readers gone? I only had one comment from Friday, and at that, nobody noticed the nice sunrise picture I took.
Well, it's been a good weekend except for the fact that I lost something of mine in the house here, and it's driving me nuts that I can't find it. That ever happen to you?
Saturday afternoon, my friend Ray came over to watch UCONN play the #7 Indiana Hoosiers at Indiana, and come away with an incredible win! That's two wins in a row, both against top 20 teams. They should get into the top 25 this week.
My son and I stopped over and picked up my daughter this morning on the way to go see my mom, and I checked out my daughter's newly decorated bathroom that's SO cute now, I can't believe it. She's really made this condo hers, and I'm so proud of how she's done it. Everything looks great, very "her", and nicely done.
My cable company sent me an email a few days ago, saying they've set up a new online service, where you can watch many full TV episodes, right on your PC. Not only many new shows, but many old ones too! The shows go from 24, to Prison Break, to Doogie Howser, to Numb3rs, to McGuyver, to WKRP in Cincinatti (one of my personal favorites!).
I got such a kick, watching the very first episode of WKRP, where they hire Andy Travis, and he turns it into a Rock & Roll station, and Johnny Caravella (Howard Hessman) turns into Dr. Johnny Fever! *LOL* All in all, they have 151 shows to pick from, and many episodes (Mark, you'll like to hear they also have all of FireFly on there too).
Enough of that... on to the news:

Ahhh... Friday!
Things are finally coming together this week.
I booked a cruise Thursday night for May 17 for 5 nights. It'll be nice to just relax, and I'm hoping to find a nice beach to relax on at Grand Cayman.
Here's the sunrise I saw this morning on my way into work. (click on picture to 'embiggen')
I've seen this kind of sunrise for the past week or so, but today was the first day I remembered to bring in my camera to capture it.
Hey Mike H, yeah, HOW about those Huskies! Wow that was some game last night! And yeah, she always caves. Oh, and the Disney Cruises.. they're BIG time expensive!
And now, for the news:
Some incredible pictures of the shuttle (and Earth from Space)
From my friend michelle. Watch the page after a minute or so!

So, the picture NASA has of Bigfoot on Mars, is just a rock. Uh huh.

Another Hump-Day....
Hump-Day came a day early for me this week, as having Monday off was great! I think we need to have more 4 days work weeks.
Did you hear how Heath Ledger is dead? 28 years old and dead of what looks like an overdose. He had the world to look forward to... and look what happens. What's happened to common sense in this world lately?
I'm still not sure what's going on with our vacation, as the wife's getting sticker-shock (as usual). It doesn't matter if the vacation is $10, or $1000, she gets like this every single time, and it drives me mad. If she bails, I may go somewhere on my own.
Well, not much to say tonight (writing this on Tuesday night), so on to the news:
That's it for today... have a great Hump-Day!

Ok, So I'm a Day Late....
So it's been a busy weekend.
Friday night, my friend Dave and I went to dinner and a movie, to see Cloverfield.
Curt, I give a -5 on a scale of 1 to 5. I was so disappointed in this movie that looked like it was going to be outstanding, only to be extremely disappointed. There was no beginning, no plot, and the ending just angered me. I wanted my money back.
Sunday, we went to a wine tasting for our group, and had a great time. It's b
een SO cold out, (we're talking single digits) that I've fired up the wood stove for some much needed warmth. (Click on the picture to 'embiggen')
Monday night, I had a couple of friends coming over to watch the UCONN Women's Basketball Game, so I had it fired up and nice and roasty-toasty in the family room.
Monday during the day, I went with my daughter to pick her up a couple of end-tables that she found over the weekend from my brother and sister-in-law.
Other than that, not too much else new.. I think I'll be booking the Disney World vacation in the next day or two. *S*
On to the news:

Caution! Long Weekend Ahead!
Luckily, I get a 3 day weekend this weekend. I kinda need it as I've been pretty stressed out lately.
We're still looking at vacations for May, but now it's beginning to look like we may go by ourselves, and probably to Disney World. All the vacations we've been looking at are pretty expensive, and we really want to do one when we can with our friends from down South, but they're not going to be available till probably September or November.
We've always loved Disney World.. it's a place where we can relax, walk at our own pace, have some fun, and see some wonderful sights. It always helps to see my wife act like a little kid when she sees Mickey, or Minnie, or Tigger walking around (don't even mention Chip or Dale!)
Personally, I love (and always have) Pirates of the Caribbean, the Tomorrowland Transit Authority, The Haunted Mansion.. and that's just in the Magic Kingdom! Don't even mention the Muppet 3D Theater in MGM. In Epcot, I love EVERYTHING! *LOL*
Hopefully, we'll book it soon if we can't make something happen with our friends from Alabama.
That's it for now... on to the news:

Snowstorm on the Way..!
Yep, after having such a warm week last, we're due over Sunday night to get 8-10 inches of snow.
Now, here's a picture of my backyard, taken on Sunday afternoon:
Now, you're looking to the back - right corner of my property. It actually goes quite deep, as my property goes back to probably 30 feet behind the house on the right, and to the bottom of the hill at left. (we looked at a house on that street, but their lots were only 85' deep, and ours was 215' deep. Oh, and there's the nice babbling brook on the right!
I remember, right after we bought this house, my dad was down by the brook gazing into the water, and darned if he didn't see trout in there! It's very very clean water, and goes for about 1.5 miles to a pond. It's called "Birge Pond Brook".
You can bet, tomorrow my backyard won't look anything like this! *chuckling*
Other than that, it's been a nice weekend.

Weather in New England....
If you wait just a little bit, it'll completely change.
We went from negative numbers one day, to two days later it being 64 degrees. No wonder people get sick!
Hiya to Caroldee, visiting here from Trucker Bob's Blog!
For those of you keeping track, no, we haven't booked a vacation yet that we've been looking at. I'm hoping we do book something soon.
With the warm weather, I've been dying to wash my truck, but it's supposed to rain all day tomorrow.. so it'll be useless to do.
Somehow, I don't remember how, I was on Youtube recently and happened upon a video by The Verve. I had never heard of them, until I played this song:
Bittersweet Symphony
Then, I listened to this next song and they just totally surprised me.
Lucky Man
Tell me if you enjoy them as much as I do.
By the way, the Wordless Wednesday photo was taken of me in April of 2005, while on our 25th anniversary cruise. It's only a block away from Carlos and Charlies, where Natalie Holloway disappeared (yes, we visited there too).
I love Aruba (and Curacao), part of the A-B-C Islands (Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao). They're Dutch islands, and as clean as Disney World, with bright pastel colored buildings. When there, you really don't feel like you're on a Caribbean island, but somewhere in Europe. (I think Trucker Bob needs to go down to the Caribbean and get some sand in his toes... I mean REAL sand, not the kind of stuff they have in Arizona!).
Other than that, not much else to talk about today... so on to the news:

Spring Tease...
Tomorrow, the weather's supposed to get up into the 50's, with Tuesday's weather maybe reaching 60! What a difference a week can make in New England. So they say, If you're unhappy with the weather in New England, just wait a day, it'll change!
Well, I got my new Digital Camera on Friday, a Canon PowerShot 750.
I love it, and when I bought it I also purchased a small additional kit that has a screen protector, case, mini tripod and extra battery (all for only $14). Here's an example of one of my first pictures.. it's of my son at our friend Dave's house.
Click on the picture to 'embiggen'
Hopefully, I'll get a lot better pictures with this camera. I just love how easy it is to use, but I have to get used to the lack of a viewfinder.
I noticed readers (or should I say commenters) are down again. Is it just the beginning of the year?
Well, on to the news:

C-C-C-COLDDDDD!
When I got up Thursday morning to go to work, it was 4 degrees F outside!!! The wind chill, made it feel like -15. Now THAT'S COLD!
So, I put on my warmest coat, a UCONN Husky Starter jacket I got for Christmas about 8 years ago. As I knew it would, it kept me very warm even in that cold.
As I'm writing this on Thursday night, I don't have a whole lot of time as I'm in the middle of watching the UConn Husky Men Basketball game with my friend Ray.
Today (Thursday) was Mom's birthday, so we all went over to see her after work. She showed me a picture from a newspaper from when she was probably in high school, of her girls softball team that she was on. There's a picture of the whole team there, and it was really quite funny and neat to see. I'll try to get a copy of it to post here.
Oh, and I ordered myself a new digital camera on Wednesday (point and shoot). I've been very unhappy with my Nikon that I have, and finally decided to get a new one. More when it comes in.
On to the news:
They're making a 2 hour TV movie of Knight Rider and using a Mustang as KITT!
And just for Mark... a Home-Made Star Wars Video!!!

First Post of 2008
I hope everyone had a wonderful New Years Eve, I know I did.
We had dinner at some friends house and we each had lobster and filet mignon. Now, the lobsters were 1.25 pounders, but the filets had to be over a pound (and wrapped in bacon)! What a feast.... everyone took some food home.
New Years Day, we took it easy at home, and had a nice ham dinner with our daughter.
Mark, here's the recipe for the Mini Ham Puffs (courtesy of The Pampered Chef All The Best Cookbook):
Prep time: 20 Minutes - Bake Time 12 Minutes - Requires a mini muffin pan
Ingredients:
1 Package (2.5 oz) Processed Ham
2 Tablespoons finely chopped onion
1 Egg
1/2 cup (2 ounces) shredded Swiss or Cheddar Cheese
1 Tablespoon fresh parsley (optional)
1.5 Teaspoons Dijon Mustard
1/8 Teaspoon Ground Black Pepper
1 Package (8 oz) refrigerated crescent rolls
Process:
Do not preheat oven. Turn on when you insert mini muffin pan.
1. Lightly spray mini muffin pan with vegetable oil or PAM.
Finely chop ham and onion and put in bowl. Add cheese, egg, parsley, mustard and black pepper. Mix well.
2. Unroll crescent dough and press into one large rectangle. Cut dough into 24 squares using a pizza cutter if possible. Press one square of dough into each muffin cup, letting corners overlap edges.
3. Using spoon, fill each dough filled cup but not over top of pan with ham mixture.
Bake 12-14 minutes at 350 degrees. Remove from pan immediately.
Serves: 24 appetizers.
