522 – 38 Days Till Vacation!
I can’t believe how quickly this vacation is coming up! Seems like yesterday it was over 60 days away. We’re trying to find places to go and things to do, other than go to Pearl Harbor, which we’re going to for sure.
It’s been such a busy week last week, I didn’t have time to sit down and relax. Hopefully, this week will be better.
The wine club we’re in had a Halloween Party on Saturday night which was a blast! There were a lot of Mexican Bandito’s, gun moll’s, a Mr. Potato Head and lots more. Fun was had by all for sure. *S*
I got my new iPhone 4S in this weekend, and it’s been fun playing with it, and with Siri, the voice recognition program. Check out Siri here.
Well, on to something funny:
I was flying from San Francisco to Los Angeles. By the time we took off, there had been a 45-minute delay and everybody on board was ticked. Unexpectedly, we stopped in Sacramento on the way. The flight attendant explained that there would be another 45-minute delay, and if we wanted to get off the aircraft, we would re-board in thirty minutes.
Everybody got off the plane except one gentleman who was blind. I noticed him as I walked by and could tell he had flown before because his seeing eye dog lay quietly underneath the seats in front of him throughout the entire flight. I could also tell he had flown this very flight before because the pilot approached him and, calling him by name, said, "Keith, we're in Sacramento for almost an hour. Would you like to get off and stretch your legs?"
Keith replied, "No thanks, but maybe my dog would like to stretch his legs. Would you take him for me please?"
Now picture this. All the people in the gate area came to a completely quiet standstill when they looked up and saw the pilot walk off the plane with a seeing eye dog! The pilot was even wearing sunglasses that day. People scattered not only trying to change planes but also trying to change airlines!
Have a wonderful day all!

521 – Friday @ Last
Well, funny enough Wednesday’s joke was also on my friend Merle’s blog! *chuckling* Great minds think alike I think. *S*
My mom fell again this week, smacked her head on a table or something and left a small gash. She goes a while without falling and thinks she doesn’t need her walker, and them boom! Never fails *frown*.
Not too much going on this weekend.. maybe a car show on Saturday if it’s nice weather. Other than that, trying to look up places to go and things to see in Hawaii.
Lastly, College Basketball season is almost among us, and I hope our UCONN Huskies repeat as National Champions!
On to something funny:

520 – The Weeks Fly By.. 50 Days till Hawaii
I can’t believe it’s already almost the middle of October! Time is FLYING by. The wife and I will have to begin our Christmas shopping soon, as we’ll be on vacation during our normal shopping time.
One of the places we want to go for sure on Kauai, is Wailua Falls, which is going to be only about a few miles from our hotel. Actually, there’s 5 or more waterfalls within 5 miles of our hotel when we’re in Kauai.
Of course, one thing I have to see is Pearl Harbor and the USS Arizona Memorial. Other than that, I want to do a Luau, but other than that, just explore and have fun.
On to something funny:
Lethal Food
A dietician was once addressing a large audience in Chicago.
"The material we put into our stomachs is enough to have killed most of us sitting here, years ago.
Red meat is awful. Vegetables can be disastrous, and none of us realizes the germs in our drinking water.
But there is one thing that is the most dangerous of all and we all eat it. Can anyone here tell me what lethal product I'm referring to?"
"You, sir, in the first row, please give us your idea."
The man lowered his head and said, "Wedding cake."
Who Says Men Don't Remember Anniversaries
A woman awakes during the night to find that her husband was not in their bed.
She puts on her robe and goes downstairs to look for him. She finds him sitting at the kitchen table with a cup of coffee in front him. He appears deep in thought, just staring at the wall. She watches as he wipes a tear from his eye and takes a sip of coffee.
"What's the matter, dear?" she whispers as she steps into the room. "Why are you down here at this time of night?"
The husband looks up, "Do you remember 20 years ago when we were dating, and
you were only 17?" he asks solemnly.
The wife is touched thinking her husband is so caring and sensitive. "Yes, I do," she replies.
The husband pauses. The words are not coming easily. "Do you remember when
you father caught us in the back seat of my car?"
"Yes, I remember," says the wife, lowering herself into a chair beside him.
The husband continues..."Do you remember when he shoved a shotgun in my face and said, "Either you marry my daughter, or I will send you to jail for 20 years".
"I remember that too", she replies softly.
He wipes another tear from his cheek and says... "I would have gotten out today!"
Have a wonderful Hump-Day!

519 – Another Busy Weekend!
I wonder if I’ll see another relaxing weekend this year. This weekend is filled up already, and maybe even next one too.
I think we’re going out to dinner tonight with some friends, and tomorrow I’ve got to do some clothe shopping for some winter clothing (I’ve been fighting it for as long as I could). Sunday, the weather’s supposed to be in the 80’s, and there’s an all-Corvette car show that got cancelled from last week I want to go to. Sunday night is our auto club’s monthly meeting, so you see what I mean.
Other than that, things are going well… *S*
I wanted to show you this video my daughter found, about Shi-Tzu’s that’s way too cute!
On to something funny from my dear friend michelle:
The Green Thing
In the line at the store, the cashier told an older woman that she should bring her own grocery bags because plastic bags weren't good for the environment.
The woman apologized to him and explained, "We didn't have the green thing back in my day."
... The clerk responded, "That's our problem today. Your generation did not care enough to save our environment."
He was right -- our generation didn't have the green thing in its day.
Back then, we returned milk bottles, soda bottles and beer bottles to the store. The store sent them back to the plant to be washed and sterilized and refilled, so it could use the same bottles over and over. So they really were recycled.
But we didn't have the green thing back in our day.
We walked up stairs, because we didn't have an escalator in every store and office building. We walked to the grocery store and didn't climb into a 300-horsepower machine every time we had to go two blocks.
But she was right. We didn't have the green thing in our day.
Back then, we washed the baby's diapers because we didn't have the throw-away kind. We dried clothes on a line, not in an energy gobbling machine burning up 220 volts -- wind and solar power really did dry the clothes.
Kids got hand-me-down clothes from their brothers or sisters, not always brand-new clothing.
But that old lady is right; we didn't have the green thing back in our day.
Back then, we had one TV, or radio, in the house -- not a TV in every room, and the TV had a small screen the size of a handkerchief (remember them?), not a screen the size of the state of Montana.
In the kitchen, we blended and stirred by hand because we didn't have electric machines to do everything for us.
When we packaged a fragile item to send in the mail, we used a wadded up old newspaper to cushion it, not Styrofoam or plastic bubble wrap.
Back then, we didn't fire up an engine and burn gasoline just to cut the lawn. We used a push mower that ran on human power. We exercised by working so we didn't need to go to a health club to run on treadmills that operate on electricity.
But she's right; we didn't have the green thing back then.
We drank from a fountain when we were thirsty instead of using a cup or a plastic bottle every time we had a drink of water.
We refilled writing pens with ink instead of buying a new pen, and we replaced the razor blades in a razor instead of throwing away the whole razor just because the blade got dull.
But we didn't have the green thing back then.
Back then, people took the streetcar or a bus and kids rode their bikes to school or walked instead of turning their moms into a 24-hour taxi service.
We had one electrical outlet in a room, not an entire bank of sockets to power a dozen appliances. And we didn't need a computerized gadget to receive a signal beamed from satellites 2,000 miles out in space in order to find the nearest pizza joint.
But isn't it sad the current generation laments how wasteful we old folks were just because we didn't have the green thing back then?
Have a wonderful weekend all!
