360 – A New (TV) Season Begins

What’s with TV nowadays? It used to be that all new shows came out in the Fall, now it seems half of them come out in the fall, and half more in the Spring. Some of the shows we enjoy watching that are coming back on now:

  • Burn Notice
  • Eureka
  • Leverage
  • The Closer
  • Cake Boss
  • Pawn Stars
  • American Pickers
  • Doctor Who

And I’m sure there’s more. Note, that none of those are on the “Big 4” (CBS, NBC, ABC or FOX).
The good news is though, that at least for now, there’s something good we enjoy watching instead of some years I can remember where not a single thing was good in the Spring.

There’s also been a couple of specials on lately, like Into the Universe with Stephen Hawking (I can listen to him talk forever), and Through the Wormhole with Morgan Freeman, two science related shows that are positively outstanding.

One other show, that I’ve become addicted to is something on HGTV (Home & Garden TV) named Holmes on Homes. It’s a Canadian show about a builder (Mike Holmes) that goes around fixing people’s houses that other contractors have completely screwed up.

Now, most of these we just record on the DVR and watch when we want to (skipping commercials, I can watch 3 hours of TV in about 2 hours and 15 minutes).

And now, something funny from my friend Dan:

You're An EXTREME Redneck When.....

1. You let your 14-year-old daughter smoke at the dinner table in front of her kids.

2. The Blue Book value of your truck goes up and down depending on how much gas is
in it.

3. You've been married three times and still have the same in-laws.

4. You think a woman who is out of your league bowls on a different night.

5. You wonder how service stations keep their rest-rooms so clean.

6. Someone in your family died right after saying 'Hey, guys, watch this'.

7. You think Dom Perignon is a Mafia leader.

8. Your wife's hairdo was once ruined by a ceiling fan.

9. Your junior prom offered day care.

10. You think the last words of the Star-Spangled Banner are 'Gentlemen, start your
engines'.

11. You lit a match in the bathroom and your house exploded right off its wheels.

12. The Halloween pumpkin on your porch has more teeth than your spouse.

13. You have to go outside to get something from the fridge.

14. One of your kids was born on a pool table.

15. You need one more hole punched in your card to get a freebie at the House of
Tattoos.

16. You can't get married to your sweetheart because there's a law against it.

17. You think loading the dishwasher means getting your wife drunk.

Have a great Hump-Day all!

Good funnies. Man, have I been swamped after a six-day weekend.

I haven't heard about those science specials you mentioned. Might have to check that out.

We don't watch any of those shows you listed, but I saw an article about American Pickers while waiting to get my haircut last week. Looked interesting. I like the "Holmes on Homes" idea. We stopped watching "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" when they started just bulldozing the old house and starting over. It wasn't nearly as innovative after that. Fixing up something is much more interesting to me than building something.
