538 – Clarification

Believing everyone on Earth is from the US, I should have put more information about the picture I posted last Thursday.

Merle, in case you didn’t know it, the photo is of the USS Arizona Memorial, in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. It’s the mighty battleship that was sunk with many men on board during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in July of 1941. The white building is the memorial that sits directly over the ship, which entombs many sailors. It’s a very somber place to remember men and women that gave their lives for our country.

The freakish weather continues here, hitting 57 yesterday, and maybe making 60 here today! People are golfing in January!

Other than that, I’ve been busy with Auto Club business as I’m the Vice President of The Bristol Auto Club now. Lots to do before the Spring car show/cruise night season begins.

And now, for something funny:

The Rich Man

There once was a rich man who was near death. He was very grieved because he had worked so hard for his money and he wanted to take it with him to heaven. So he began to pray that he might be able to take some of his wealth with him.

An angel hears his plea and appears to him.
"Sorry, but you can't take your wealth with you."
The man implores the angel to speak to God to see if He might bend the rules.

The man continues to pray that his wealth could follow him.

The angel reappears and informs the man that God has decided to allow him to take one suitcase with him. Overjoyed, the man gathers his largest suitcase and fills it with pure gold bars and places it beside his bed.

Soon afterward the man dies and shows up at the Gates of Heaven to greet St. Peter.

Seeing the suitcase St. Peter says,
"Hold on, you can't bring that in here!"

But, the man explains to St. Peter that he has permission and asks him to verify his story with the Lord. Sure enough, St. Peter checks and comes back saying,
"You're right. You are allowed one carry-on bag, but I'm supposed to check its contents before letting it through."

St. Peter opens the suitcase to inspect the worldly items that the man found too precious to leave behind and exclaims,
"You brought pavement?!!!"

Have a great Hump-Day!

i cannot say that we are having a winter either. Floridians took their sweaters out of the mothballs for two hole days, and the rest has been shorts weather. i dearly love the few cold days we usually get, but now my A/C is starting to run daily again, much to the joy of my electric company!

Send down some cold weather if you get it, ok?

Yours,

michelle ('lil o)

Hi Dave ~~ Thanks for your clarification. Of course I knew about the attack on
Pearl Harbor, bu t didn't know the memorial was built over the ship with it's sad
company of men and women who gave their lives. No wonder it is a very somber place.
Thanks for the welcome back too my friend. I think (hope)the dizzy spells have finished as I am feeling better and am VERY careful.
And it is great that there are more GOOD people than bad. Glad you enjoyed the jokes. I liked your "pavement" one too. Take care my friend, Cheers, Merle.
